The International Water Association (IWA) is a non-profit international organization which aims to contribute stable and safe drinking water supply and sanitation in the world through development of efficient water management and water treatment technology. IWA has about 500 corporate members, 10000 individual members from 130 countries.

IWA Japan National Committee (IWA-JNC), the IWA’s representative in Japan, was established by the Japan Water Works Association (JWWA) and the Japan Society on Water Environment (JSWE) when IWA was launched in 1999. The committee is comprised of an equal number of representatives from JWWA and JSWE and meets to discuss a range of topics related to IWA activities. JWWA and JSWE each have one representative serving as a Governing Board Member of the IWA. These Members attend annual governing assembly of IWA and take part in its management.
JNC also functions as the IWA’s contact in Japan, gathering and providing information related to IWA, organizing conference participation tours, supporting IWA international conferences and events which are held in Japan.

 

 

IWA（International Water Association：国際水協会）は、水の効率的な管理と水処理技術の向上を通して 世界における安定かつ安全な水の供給及び公衆衛生に寄与することを 目的に1999年に設立された非営利の国際団体です。世界の約130カ国が加盟しており、約500の団体と約10,000の個人が会員となっています。

IWA日本国内委員会（IWA Japan National Committee）は、IWAの発足に伴い（公社）日本水道協会と（公社）日本水環境学会で設置したIWAの日本国内代表組織です。委員会は両団体からの同数の委員と水関連団体・企業からのオブザーバーで構成されており、IWAの活動に関する事項について審議しています。また、両団体からそれぞれ１名がIWAの理事を務めており、年1回開催されるIWA理事会に出席してIWAの運営に関与しています。
その他、IWA関連国際会議に関する情報の告知、会議参加ツアーの実施、日本で開催されるIWA関連の国際会議やイベントの支援を行うなど、随時IWAに係る情報収集及び発信を行い、日本でのIWA関連活動の窓口となっています。
